It’s always hard to keep a healthy diet when you don’t have enough time on your hands. With that being said, it’s so easy to end up at McDonalds and order a 20 piece nuggets and some fries – simply because you didn’t have time to prepare a better meal.
Well, I’m not too sure I can help you with time management but I can tell you some healthy snacks you can carry around that can hold you off.
Mixed nuts – any blend of raw nuts will do you justice. If I had to pick one type it would be almonds. They’re good at keeping you full and have great nutritious value. They’re high in fiber, magnesium & zinc and are low in carbohydrates. A bit higher in calories, so this snack is great if you’re doing activities that burn a lot of calories of if you’re trying to gain weight.
Bananas – YUM. Bananas are high in potassium and they’re sweet. In addition, they are packed with vitamins like Vitamin C , B-6 and more. They will reduce your craving for sweet things since they’re naturally sweet and they will help keep you full. Grab a few and take them with you!
Eggs – you can’t go wrong with eggs. They’re high in protein and easy to lug when you boil them. Eggs are rich in vitamin A & D, which aid with eye and bone health. If you’re worried about the calories and cholesterol, just eat the egg whites and it will reduce the calories by half. Boil a batch and grab and go as needed.
Carrots – this is probably one of my favorites. Carrots are an excellent source of Vitamin A (more than double daily recommended amount) and are low calorie. For those days I have to work long hours and don’t get much of a break, I break these bad boys out and munch in between meals. Sometimes I even bring cherry tomatoes. Whatever works better for you. I tend to dip in some hummus, but don’t get carried away.
These are just a few of the snacks I carry around with me on long days. There are many other things you can bring but these are a few ideas to get you started in case you needed some direction. Enjoy!
